I treat every client as my only client. There’s immeasurable value in the relief experienced by people when they can resolve a difference without going to court. I believe in a personalized approach to dispute resolution. When I ask someone, ‘how are you doing?’, I really mean it. I want to know what you need to be better and to move on from a difficulty.
During his 50-year professional legal career, Michael has been rightly recognized for walking the walk of a dedicated and caring professional. Most recently, he was honoured with the Distinguished Service Award by the Middlesex Law Association.
Michael’s passion beyond his extensive legal career is to try to make a significant contribution to a variety of community and charitable organizations, especially those in service of health, children and the betterment of his city and province.
Michael believes deeply in sharing knowledge as evidenced by his role as an Adjunct Professor at Western University Law and his work as a Lecturer at Fanshawe College. He also gave freely of his time to school children, helping them understand the world of law. He has a natural ability to have one-on-one connections with people of all ages and backgrounds while also demonstrating dedicated leadership. A multiple past-president, chair and board member for community and professional organizations, Micheal has spent a lifetime listening and helping others make thoughtful and reasonable decisions.
Recently retired from litigation, Michael’s practice focuses on appearances before administrative tribunals. He served as the Vice-Chair of the Ontario Human Rights Tribunal.
Still, what matters most to Michael is the individual well-being of each person at the table. His self-described laid-back approach creates a relaxed setting and encourages people to reach a resolution that is reasonable and practical for both sides.

In the court room people may know me as a tough litigator. I’ve seen and experienced how challenging court cases can be for everyone. That’s why I believe so strongly in mediation. I prefer peaceful resolutions with professional results that leaves everyone at table feeling heard and respected.
Problem solving is a big part of Dave’s day-to-day work as a litigator & owner of his own legal firm, David A. MacKenzie Law: www.damlaw.ca
A proud four-time Western University graduate and a varsity basketball player, Dave understands the power of teamwork and leadership based on listening and empathy. After obtaining a Bachelor of Law degree, Dave went on to earn a Master of Law where his research combined his passions for dispute resolution and sports arbitration. He also has a deep interest in history, with both a Bachelor and Master of History degree. It’s understandable then that Western would invite him back to teach as an Adjunct Professor of Law. He also served on the Board of Directors of King’s University College, his home for his undergrad degree at Western.
Dave was the managing partner of a successful law firm in London for 18 years. Understanding the importance of work life balance, he also found time to give back to the sport he loves as Vice President of Basketball Ontario.
